sopa and pipa stopped for now!

13 Million flexed their right to free speech, and YAY, sopa and pipa have been struck down for now! loud and proud peeps! loud and proud!

On January 18th, 13 million of us took the time to tell Congress to protect our free speech rights on the internet. Hundreds of millions of people all around the world saw what we did on Wednesday.  Check out the numbers here

The largest online protest in history has fundamentally changed the game.  We were heard.

On January 20th, Congress shelved the bills indefinitely.

WOW! Our activism may have changed the way people fight for the public interest and basic rights forever.

Under the US Constitution we have the First Amendment Civil Right to Free Speech. Yet the Senate only "postponed" the calendar event of January 24th...

So it's not over yet folks. If these bills come back to the table we must be ready. If you're in the US, please sign the petitions and voice your opinion! Help prevent censorship! Otherwise, if either of these bills sneak through (and we all know they're sneaky like that), then my blog and so much more WILL go black, permanently.

censor me or my blog?...violate my civil rights?...here's my thoughts on that! (shitty pic but you get the point).

  7. thanks everyone! its still concerning that our govt would try to enact legislation to protect just one big industry over protecting the rights of the people they represent. and, it may be out of congress for now, but its only been postponed by the senate. scary thing is, the way our govt works, we know it will be back. :(

  9. Dear Ms. m:

There is always some special interest, some indignant third party, or some dope waiting to throw a wet blanket over the parade. Now just think what it would be like if 13 million Americans got on the internet to rid this country of the Patriot Act, which takes away more than one sacred American right.

    Fondest regards,
    Jack/reep
